... The goal of the day was to get as many kids as possible (especially non-Trinity kids) out to hear the word of God taught while having a fun day of games and activities. About twenty C&C members participated in the day with planning, leading Bible studies, being team leaders, organizing games, and preparing food. The turnout was excellent, as nearly forty kids participating, half of which were from outside of Trinity. The morning started off with registration and a few “ice-breaker” games to get everyone excited for the day ahead. The kids were then separated into groups and assigned to the C&C members designated to be their team leaders. The teams were then paired up and given a Bible study from different members of the C&C. The topic of the morning study was the promise of a son to Abraham. The kids heard of Abraham’s response of faith to God’s extraordinary promise to him, the power of God that brought about the miraculous birth of Isaac, and the faithfulness of God in always keeping His promises. Immediately after the morning study the kids were allowed to decorate their respective leaders by painting their faces, hair, and Camp Courageous shirts. Once all the team leaders looked sufficiently ridiculous, we all sat down for lunch. Following lunch, the various teams began working their way through the circuit of games that was spread throughout the church. After a couple hours of intense fun and competition, we were all given a short breather before the afternoon study. AJ led the entire group in the afternoon study on God’s promise of a Son to His people. The afternoon study paralleled that of the morning and we learned of the eternal importance of our response to the gift of God’s Son. We were also reminded that while the promise of the coming of a Saviour has been fulfilled, we continue to wait by faith on the God whose promises never fail for the second coming of our Saviour. The day was closed off with a short quiz on the Bible lessons and with a presentation of awards for the kids. As we look back on Camp Courageous, we are thankful that it was such a success. Not only were our prayers answered in the excellent attendance, but the kids (and C&C) also thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We pray that God will bless the teaching to each of the children present and look forward to next year. |
